Thousands of grandparents throughout WA provide care to their grandchildren as a result of the biological parents experiencing hardship through issues such as drug addiction, mental illness or imprisonment. They often provide the care with limited resources and are faced with huge financial pressures associated with raising children. Our new project is aimed at providing age-relevant school supplies to grandcarers throughout Perth.
We’ve had a wonderful response with over 16,000 individual stationery items donated. These were then sorted and packed into 300 bags to be distributed through Wanslea’s Grandcare service.
