Beginning on 25 November and ending on 10 December is the United Nations 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign. It is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world.
This international campaign originated from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Centre for Women’s Global Leadership in 1991. For several years now Soroptimist clubs have used the Walk the Talk campaign to advocate for an END to violence against women.
SI South Perth members participated in the 29th Annual Silent Domestic Violence Memorial March on Friday 22 November from Supreme Court Gardens (cnr Barrack St and Riverside Drive).
Over 100 of Perth’s leaders stand together with the Premier, Hon Mark McGowan MLA, and Hon Simone McGurk, Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence; Women’s Interests, to launch 16 Days in WA to stop violence against women on 25 November.
