Last Cab to Darwin

A fundraising performance of this iconic Australian play.

Last Cab to Darwin is a 2003 Australian drama/comedy stage play written by Reg Cribb and based upon the true story of taxi driver Max Bell who was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer in the early 1990s. Taking advantage of the controversial Northern Territory’s Voluntary euthanasia law Rex decides to end his own life with dignity. His request under the law is in bitter dispute but Rex sells up everything he owned, says goodbye to his neighbor and good friend Polly, and drives the great distance from Broken Hill, New South Wales to Darwin, Northern Territory where taking his own life would be legal. The 2003 production was presented both at the Sydney Opera House and the Octagon Theatre in Perth.

Here’s your chance to see a local performance at the Old Mill Theatre under the direction of Trevor Dhu. Our fundraising performance includes sherry/port before the show and a sumptuous afternoon tea afterwards.

Relay for Life 2018

From the  first time in participating in the Cancer Council WA’s Relay for Life, SISP has taken on the challenge of raising much-needed funds for research into this dreadful disease.

Our Soroptimist Sunflowers team has been prominent trackside every year and this year we were honoured with an award for raising over $55,000 since 2002.

Well done to everyone involved – our team members, donors and supporters – over the weekend.

Thank you again, we really appreciate it!

Garage Sale

Our Annual Garage Sale was held on Sunday 29 October 2017. We had a great day with bright sunshine, lots of bargains and many shopper visiting and buying throughout the day. This is a major fundraising event for the Club and we were delighted to raise over $5,000 from the day. All funds raised go to projects to empower and educate women and girls.

Starick Fundraising Breakfast

You are invited to support our major fundraising event for the year. Our annual Starick Breakfast raises funds for the women’s refuge centre that is a not for profit organisation which provides multi-layered support services in Perth’s south-east metropolitan area to women and children experiencing family and domestic violence. The funds raised from the breakfast go directly to Starick to support women and children in need.

Relay for Life

Team Soroptimist Sunflowers once again participated in this annual fundraiser for the Cancer Council. The 11 members who made up the team this year raised a total of $6,450 with three members raising over $1,000 each and being in the top 20 fundraisers. This was our 15th year of involvement in the event.
