SI South Perth members attended the UN Women IWD Breakfast at PCEC and were delighted to host students from our local schools. The guest speaker was Siobhan Hobbs (Women, Peace & Security Program Specialist for UN Women in Bangladesh) in a panel discussion with Elizabeth Shaw (MC & UN Women Empowerment Champion). Siobhan is currently based with UN Women in Bangladesh and has first-hand involvement responding to the 2017 floods in Bangladesh and the current Rohingya Crisis. It was a great morning with a great theme – Leave No Women Behind.
We also celebrated the induction of two of our WA Soroptimist sisters into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Hazel Butorac (SI On The Terrace) and Kelly Howlett (SI Port Hedland).
