National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day

6 May

Today, on National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day, we honour the women and children who have lost their lives to domestic and family violence—and renewed our call to end it.

Each name represents a life cut short, a family changed forever. These are not isolated tragedies—they are part of a pattern of violence that continues to impact women across Australia every day. We remember them not only in grief, but with purpose—because remembrance must be a call to action.

Ending domestic and family violence demands more than awareness. It requires accountability, sustained investment, and a collective commitment to challenge the attitudes, systems and inequalities that allow this violence to persist.

We stand with survivors, with families, and with those working tirelessly to end this violence.
