International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated around the world on 8 March. Globally, IWD will be marked in 2023 with the theme Innovation for a Gender Equal Future – #EmbraceEquity.

Suzy is a science teacher and the creator, developer and promoter of CoRE (Centre of Resources Excellence), which is a contemporary learning model based on a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths) framework. A former geologist, Suzy holds a BSc Geology (1st) and a DipEd. (Sec) In 2016, Suzy won the Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Secondary Schools and in 2018 was inducted into the Western Australian Women’s Hall of Fame. In 2020, Suzy was recognised as an Australian of the Year WA Local Hero, an award attributed to her work as a proactive science educator and mentor
