A former geologist\, Suzy holds a BSc Geology (1st) and a DipEd. (Sec) In 2016\, Suzy won the Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Secondary Schools and in 2018 was inducted into the Western Australian Women’s Hall of Fame. In 2020\, Suzy was recognised as an Australian of the Year WA Local Hero\, an award attributed to her work as a proactive science educator and mentor
